On December 15th, 2022, a local Boston man was arraigned at the Suffolk County Superior Court on charges of shooting and killing 28-year-old Dion Ruiz on August 13th, 2022 in the South End. District Attorney Kevin Hayden has been handling the case.
Alexander Nunez, 24, stands accused of second-degree murder. On the day of the incident, Nunez was at a birthday party on West Dedham Street. Afterwards, he was seen driving to the Villa Victoria housing projects where the incident occurred and walking into the parking lot holding his pistol.
He reportedly was seen walking by the victim, turning around, and firing five rounds into his back. He then fled the scene and was not arrested until days later. Sources close to the investigation were calling it “basically an execution,” as Ruiz later passed away in the hospital.
Clerk Magistrate Stacey Pichardo ordered that Nunez be held without bail after he turned himself in yesterday. He will appear in court again on January 5th, 2023 to be officially sentenced on the charge of second-degree murder.
