On Monday, December 19th, 2022, at approximately 03:45 hours, Boston Firefighters responded to a 911 call reporting that a sinkhole had opened up in the area of the 400 Block of Neponset Avenue near Neponset Circle in Dorchester. The 911 caller reported that his car had fallen into the hole while driving.
Police from District C-11 also arrived at the scene and closed off the area to traffic. The male driver involved appeared to be completely unharmed, but his car sustained significant damage.
Repair crews were seen this morning filling the hole to avoid any further damages and possible injuries that it could cause. Police advised residents to avoid this area during the morning commute this morning, which significantly slowed traffic. Now, the sinkhole appears to be filled and it should not cause any further delays.
