Booking Photo and Report: Officers Recover a Loaded Firearm After a Traffic Stop in Dorchester

At about 7:50 PM, Friday, October 07, 2022, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force, along with Massachusetts State Police, conducted a traffic stop that resulted in an on-site firearm arrest at the intersection of Fernboro Street and Intervale Street in Dorchester. 

While on patrol, officers observed a motor vehicle traveling on Fernboro Street toward Intervale Street at a high rate of speed. Officers conducted a motor vehicle stop, and after further investigation, the driver, later identified as Steven Coachman, 53, of Roslindale, was found to be under the influence, and he was placed under arrest.  A loaded firearm was located inside the motor vehicle.

The firearm was determined to be a COBRA Enterprises CA-32 with one round in the chamber and four rounds in the magazine. Steven Coachman was charged with; Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol. He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
