Woman Shot on Snowy Southie Street Sunday Expected to Survie Sources Say

Shortly after 17:30 hours on Sunday, January 15, 2023, Boston Police Officers from District C-6 responded to multiple 911 calls for 5-9 shots fired in the area of 629 Dorchester Ave near Andrew Square in South Boston. At least one 911 caller described a white-colored sedan fleeing the area following the shooting. Additional 911 callers also reported a male subject wearing a navy blue or black jacket with a red and white stripe on the back fleeing on foot toward the tennis courts.

When Officers arrived on the scene they quickly located a woman shot at least once to the stomach inside of a vehicle parked at Dorchester Ave and Devine Way. They immediately requested Boston EMS to the scene and began to render aid and apply pressure to her wounds.

When EMS arrived on the scene they took over care of the woman, treating her and then transporting her to Boston Medical Center. Sources familiar with the woman’s care tell us that she was seriously wounded but is now stable and expected to survive.

Officers quickly closed down Dorchester Ave, putting up crime scene tape as they canvased the area searching for witnesses, security cameras, ballistics, and other clues as to who had committed the brazen act of violence.

District Detectives were called to the scene and they could be seen reviewing store security cameras as well as marking, photographing, and collecting evidence on the street. At this time the Boston Police Department has not announced any public suspects or arrests in this matter.
