On Sunday, January 22, 2023, at approximately 20:30 hours, Boston Firefighters and Boston Police officers both responded to a 911 call reporting that a vehicle was on fire on Quincy Street.

Firefighters and police officers located a small silver vehicle with smoke pouring out from beneath the hood. Firefighters immediately got to work with high-powered hoses as police cleared and closed off the area.

The owner of the car remained on the scene as well. Thankfully, he was unharmed from the fire, but was visibly shaken. As police spoke to the owner, firefighters continued quelling the smoke.

Soon after the incident was reported, firefighters successfully knocked down the fire. While responders are fairly certain that an engine failure caused the fire, police had the vehicle towed for further investigation.

The car sustained major damages under the hood and it is unknown whether they are fixable at this time. Police believe this incident was one of bad luck and that there was no malicious intent. However, those with possible information are urged to contact B-2 Detectives at 617-343-4275.
