On January 31, 2023, around 13:40 hours, Boston Fire Tech Rescue Companies responded to the MBTA Park Street Station after getting word a person was in the “pit”. A 911 caller reported that a male was stuck underneath the Red Line train at the station platform.
It is unclear as to how he got stuck; he could have fallen, been pushed, or jumped. It is still under investigation. The service was delayed in the area but quickly resumed after the rescue.
In a Tweet, the Boston Fire Department said that crews arrived at the scene and were quickly able to extricate the male subject from under the train with minimal injury. The victim was then treated by Boston EMS on the scene before being transported by ambulance to a local hospital for further care. The injuries were non-life-threatening, and the victim is expected to make a full recovery.
