Dorchester MA – On the evening of February 9, 2023, at approximately 19:00 hours, Officers assigned to the District C-11 Anit-Crime Unit were assisting Lawrence Police on surveillance of a vehicle connected to a shooting that had occurred in Lawrence. Detectives from the outside agency were able to track down the suspect vehicle to the area of Devon Street where plainclothes officers set up to watch the car.
While Officers were surveilling the vehicle, one of the officers quickly recognized a pair of teens walking down the street as being wanted by C-11 Detectives in connection to an unrelated set of armed robberies and home invasions. As Officers approached the pair to speak with them and confirm their identity, the two quickly turned and fled on foot. After a brief chase, Officers were able to place the suspects into custody.
One of the suspects, 19-year-old Jahnine Francois was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm after a search found a handgun on his person. The firearm was a Glock 17 with one round of bullets in the chamber, and thirty rounds in the magazine.
Francois was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition. He is expected to make an appearance in Dorchester District Court. There is no further information at this time.
