At about 12:46 PM, on Friday, July 22, 2022, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown), responded to a radio call for a shoplifter in custody at Macy’s, 450 Washington Street in Boston.

Upon arrival, officers met with Macy’s security who observed the suspect, later identified as Edison Arias, 29, of Dorchester, dealing drugs inside the store. Officers were able to view security footage of the drug transactions as well as the suspect attempting to steal a $40 shirt.
Officers recovered $288.00 in USC and twenty-nine plastic bags of a brown powdery substance believed to be Heroin from the suspect. Edison Arias was placed under arrest and charged with; Larceny Under $50, Trafficking; Class A, Drugs 100-199 grams and Distribution Class A, Drugs. He is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.
