Boston Firefighters Knock Down Blaze on Blue Hill Ave

Boston, MA – The Boston Fire Department responded to a two-alarm fire at 1553 Blue Hill Ave. in Mattapan on Saturday February 18, 2023. The flames engulfed half of the top floor of the building, which is located directly behind a barbershop. Thankfully, fire crews were able to use a “quick, aggressive attack” to extinguish the fire before it could spread to surrounding buildings.

According to the Boston Fire Department, one resident suffered minor injuries and was transported by Boston EMS to a local area hospital. A total of eight residents, including two children, were displaced as a result of the blaze. The Red Cross is currently offering assistance to those who were displaced.

The cause of the fire is still unknown and damage is estimated to be around $1 million. Boston Fire Department officials are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire.
