Woman Found Shot to Death in Franklin Hill Park Saturday

At approximately 8:46 PM on Saturday, February 18, 2023, officers from District B-3 (Mattapan/Dorchester) rushed to 15 Fermoy Heights in response to a ShotSpotter activation. Upon arrival, the officers discovered an adult female victim outside in a bush who had sustained an apparent gunshot wound.

Despite the immediate medical attention provided by the officers, and Boston EMS’s fast response, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Due to the serious nature of the incident, full notifications were made with investigators from the Homicide Unit, Crime Scene Response Unit, Command Staff, and Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office all responding to the scene.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin. The identity of the deceased victim has not yet been released pending notification of their family and completion of an autopsy by the Medical Examiner.

The incident has left the community in shock and the police are actively investigating the shooting. At this time, no information has been released regarding any suspects or potential motives for the crime. There have been no arrests.
