On Monday, February 20, 2022, at approximately 2200 hours, Everett Firefighters battled a 2-alarm fire. The fire reportedly started in the basement of a residential home on 162 Ferry St, Everett.

Fire officials told reporters that upon their arrival, residents of the home were already outside when they got there. The residential home fire was confirmed to have started in the basement and it extended its way to all floors of the house with fire and heavy smoke even coming through the roof.
Firefighters from Everett, Chelsea, Malden, and Boston all responded to the site as mutual aid. After nearly an hour battling the fire, companies were able to successfully extinguish the bulk of the fire. Malden Fire Department even brought out their spare firetruck that is still kicking after 28 years of use.

Luckily, thanks to all the hard work put in there were no injuries to the residents or firefighters. The cause of the fire is still unknown and is currently under investigation. Everett firefighters officials did confirm that 5 people have been displaced.
