BREAKING: North End Roof Under Construction Comes Crashing Down

On Thursday, February 23, 2023, Boston Fire Department was called into action after a partial roof collapse at a building currently under construction on 43 Fleet Street in Boston’s historical North End.

The Boston Fire Department has stated that this partial roof collapse has “compromised multiple floors” of the North end of the building and also led to the evacuation of multiple neighboring structures. The main building, a 5 story brick apartment complex was thankfully unoccupied and under repair during the time of the incident. Proper safety measures have been taken and the evacuation of buildings from 45 to 37 Fleet Street.

Boston Firefighters are currently on scene using their drone to scope out and monitor the roof from above. This allows for a much clearer and more accurate view of damages. Authorities are also using laser directed equipment to detect any movement inside the building. Responders have been able to identify the primary collapse zone, and they are working around the established perimeter of that zone to ensure everyone’s safety.
