Boston, MA – Shots were fired outside of the infamous Savvor Lounge on Lincoln Street in the Leather District in the early hours of this morning. According to law enforcement sources, police officers from District A-1 responded to the scene at around closing time for reports of shots fired.
When officers arrived they encouraged a large crowd fleeing the area and quickly set up a extensive crime scene. Officers canvased the area and recovered seven casings and a knife.
Fortunately, there were no victims reported at this time. However, the incident has left many in the community concerned about the safety of the area. A security guard who works at a nearby said, “this isn’t the first and it won’t be the last time. That place is always having problems.”
The Savvor Lounge has a reputation for attracting rowdy, violent crowds, and this incident is just the latest in a series of violent incidents and rule breaking that have become synonymous with the venue. The owners of Savvor have a lengthy “rap-sheet” with city licensing and have been the center of ongoing efforts by Police, the City and community members to shutter the problematic venue that allegedly operates as an illegal nightclub.
As of now, the police have not identified any suspects in connection with the shooting. They are urging anyone with information to come forward and help them in their investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact A-1 Detectives at 617-343-4571.
