At About 10:22 PM on Sunday, October 9, 2022, Officers assigned to District B-3 conducted a traffic stop resulting in an on-site firearm arrest of Markeith Walton, 19, of Hyde Park, and a 17-year-old juvenile male for violation of auto-laws.
Officers were responding to a radio call for a loud party on Talbot Avenue. While responding to the radio call, Officers’ attentions were drawn to a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed down Blue Hill Avenue towards Westview Street.
Officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of 80 Talbot Avenue. As they approached the vehicle, another vehicle stopped and stated that the vehicle that officers had pulled over had struck their vehicle and did not stop to exchange information.
While approaching the vehicle, Officers observed the rear driver-side passenger, later identified as Markeith Walton, place both his hands in the air as if he was surrendering. When asked if there were any weapons in the vehicle, Walton stated, “yes… I have a gun on me.” The occupants of the vehicle were removed, and upon conducting a pat frisk, officers recovered a loaded firearm and placed Walton into custody without incident.
The firearm was determined to be a Ruger EC9S equipped with a laser sight attachment, with one (1) 9MM cartridge in the chamber and three (3) 9MM cartridges in the magazine. The firearm’s serial number was obliterated.
Walton is to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, Carrying a loaded firearm, and Possession of a Firearm with a Defaced Serial Number. The 17-year-old juvenile male is to be arraigned in the Juvenile division of Dorchester District Court on charges of Delinquent to wit: Unlicensed Operation of a motor vehicle, Failure to stop at a red light, and speed greater than reasonable.
