At about 1:50 PM on Thursday December 1, 2022, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) arrested Ricardo Hamilton, 27, of Mattapan on firearm related charges following a traffic stop in the area of 10 Orlando Street in Mattapan.

The officers had stopped a motor vehicle for an equipment violation (excessive tint) and traffic infractions (failure to signal, x2) and were speaking the operator, later identified as the suspect, when they observed a firearm inside the vehicle.

The officers then removed the suspect and placed him in custody without incident, allowing them to safely recover the weapon which was later identified as a 9mm Glock handgun with a partially inserted magazine containing 17 rounds of ammunition.

The suspect will appear in Dorchester District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device.
