On April 21, 2023, at approximately 20:15 hours, police got a call for an Emotional Disturbed Person (EDP) inside a house at 91 Charles St in Weymouth. It was stated that the male subject could potentially have a gun.
When Weymouth Fire Department, Police Department, and Metro-Lec SWAT arrived at the scene, they started evacuating families from inside of the house immediately and safely as there could be a gun on the premises. After everyone but the subject was out, It wasn’t long before the scene turned into a standoff. Authorities negotiated with the subject for over an hour.
Finally, after a lengthy standoff, the subject stated to police that he “needed to clean up the mess he made” in the house before coming outside. He finally surrendered peacefully shortly after that. He was then taken into custody and transported to a local hospital for an evaluation.
