Shortly after 18:00 hours on Monday, firefighters in Lexington responded to a harrowing scene at 31 Mass Ave, where an SUV had reportedly struck multiple pedestrians before crashing into the building. Sources familiar with the incident tell us that the SUV careened from the road, onto the sidewalk where the pedestrians were present, before crashing into the car wash.
Fire companies on the scene noted that there was no structural damage to the building, but they did request additional ambulances. One child and one adult were transported to a local area hospital by EMS, and their current condition is unknown at this time.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and authorities have not released any further information at this time. The Lexington Fire Department is working with local law enforcement to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
