A shooting incident in Dorchester on Thursday evening has left one person with life-threatening injuries and caused a vehicle to slam into a building, according to a Boston Police Department (BPD) spokesperson.

The incident occurred at around 4:00 p.m. on Homes Avenue when officers were alerted to reports of a motor vehicle accident and possibly a person shot. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered a silver SUV that had collided with a building, with its airbags deployed, and confirmed a person inside the vehicle had been shot once in the head and once in the back.

One person was taken from the scene by Boston EMS with life-threatening injuries. Due to the serious nature of the injuries, full notifications were made.

Following the incident, police officers cordoned off the area around the crashed car with crime scene tape. An active investigation is currently underway, and police are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.

This latest shooting incident comes amid a rise in violent crime in Boston in recent weeks, prompting increased police presence and surveillance across the city. Anyone with information on the incident is urged to contact Boston Police immediately.
