At about 7:30 PM on Thursday March 16, 2023, officers assigned to District D-4 (South End) arrested Stephen Freeman, 33, of Boston, in the area of Shawmut Avenue and Hammond Street pursuant to an outstanding warrant for the murder of Terrell Banks. The full report can be seen below:
This arrest came as a result of a coordinated investigation between the Boston Police Homicide Unit and the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office which resulted in the issuance of a warrant on multiple charges including Murder, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Carrying a Loaded Firearm and Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon. The suspect was arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
The original facts and circumstances surrounding the incident are as follows: At about 11:34 PM on Saturday, February 18, 2023, officers assigned to District D-4 (South End/ Lower Roxbury) responded to a ShotSpotter activation at 958 Tremont Street. Upon arrival, officers located two adult males suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to local hospitals where one was pronounced dead. That victim was later identified as Terrell Banks, 37, of Boston. The second victim’s injuries were determined to be non-life threatening in nature.
