Booking Image and Report: Officers Arrest One Suspect in Possession of a Loaded Firearm After a Traffic Stop in Mattapan

At about 10:11 PM, on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of 481 Norfolk Street in Mattapan that resulted in the firearm arrest of Tye West, 26, of Dorchester.

Officers were on patrol in the area when they observed a motor vehicle with extremely dark tinted windows and an obscured license plate.

Officers safely stopped the motor vehicle and observed what looked like ballistic damage to the passenger side of the vehicle. After further investigation and making contact with the occupants, officers observed a bullet fragment inside of the motor vehicle.

All occupants were removed from the motor vehicle and a firearm was recovered from Tye West’s waistband. The firearm was determined to be a SCCY 9mm with one round in the chamber and five rounds in the magazine. Tye West was placed under arrest and charged with; Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.  He was arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
