A series of gunshots echoed through the night around 10:00 PM on May 12, 2023, prompting a Shotspotter activation and multiple 911 calls in the vicinity of 618 Shawmut Ave. Shotspotter indicated that a total of 21 rounds were fired, intensifying the urgency of the response. As units arrived, the area was secured, and officers commenced a search for potential victims or suspects. Among the chaos, a woman nearby could be heard shouting that she had been shot, though no visible injuries were evident and her claims of who shot her ranged from the police to random people, raising questions about the legitimacy of her claims.
